CANON: Lore Olympus
CANON POINT: Current to S1 finale
AGE: Non-specified ( He appears to have stopped aging in his late teens-early 20s | centuries? )
BACKGROUND:
Several links:
Eros' Wiki | The Comic
It's Greek but modern. Wham-bam! (I'm still trying to figure out the modern clothing and toga usage myself shh.)
PERSONALITY:
While he is definitely not the main (two) character(s), Eros makes a very strong impression right off the bat. It's not the greatest; he is roped into a rather lackluster revenge plot on his mother's behalf. He goes along with it but not without criticizing her intentions. By asking her where her faith in humanity and love has gone he offers his own rather naive, idealistic view of how he believes she should handle the situation. He is silenced by being reminded that she did something rather questionable to get him out of trouble once.
You would think that being manipulated by a parent doesn't bode well for the relationship, but that's not the case between Eros and Aphrodite. He is a doting son, a tried-and-true momma's boy if there ever was one, and she genuinely seems to love him and spoil him with affection and attention. Eros and Aphrodite are like two vain little peas in a pod which makes sense considering their particular domain in lore. He takes after her in his sociable demeanor and fashionable flair but he has very little interest in being petty when he doesn't agree with someone, acting quite different from Aphrodite in that regard.
The day after the retaliation, Eros seeks out Persephone to fully apologize for putting her in a potentially dangerous situation. Artemis, who is housing Persephone while she's attending university in Olympus, is confused as to how Eros was convinced to do such a stupid thing for his mother in the first place. Eros delivers a rather heartfelt tale of how he'd fallen in love with a mortal named Psyche. He'd been sent to make her fall in love with a hideous creature by his mother and it had gone awry, in turn leading him to abduct her from her wedding party and awful life and hide her away in secret on Olympus.
His story delivers a few key points: he became enamored and defied his mother's trust, essentially honeymooning with a beautiful girl in an apartment that she paid for. Interesting, as Eros holds incredible stock in trust. When Psych breaks his trust by coming to him with a dagger given by her sisters, he can't so much as look at her and flees the home they'd started to make together. When she tried to explain herself, he refuses to listen. In his heartbreak, he is unyielding.
Eros shows a darker side to himself afterward, indiscriminately killing three-hundred mortals with a rain of arrows. He'd never experienced heartbreak before and in the aftermath displayed incredible feats of wrath that would've probably made his father Ares (God of War) raise a brow. It isn't until he's knocked to his senses, quite literally by Hermes, that he is able to process what he'd done and the shame that came with it. Of course, he omits this part of his recanting, but it is why Aphrodite has leverage on him nonetheless. She seduces Zeus to spare her son, deals with Psyche since he wasn't man enough to go back and face her, and lets him move back home to heal.
Persephone and Eros strike up a rather quick friendship after she accepts his apology and comforts him from crying over Psyche. Her compassion inspires his continued efforts toward self-improvement after such a momentous personal low. While he is warmly and genuinely affectionate he retains youthful mischief to how he handles gossip and romantic interests. Take his new friend; Eros is fast to latch on to Persephone's budding crush for Hades although he's happy to see how the relationship progresses organically.
Not that he could help her with a well-placed arrow even if he wanted to.
At the first sign of trouble, he is quick to fly (literally) to her defense. He is willing to put himself in a potentially dangerous situation when Apollo threatens Persephone, firing a warning shot at his head and grazing his cheek when he doesn't back off of her. Eros' sense of duty to his friends is most likely due to the fact he's grown up in a rather large family as the eldest of eight children.
He is by no means a Cinderella story; he's happy to act as the man of the house while his father is away in the mortal realm. Their somewhat strained relationship is obvious though; he refers to Ares as “his disaster” rather than his father when introducing him to Persephone. It isn't a lack of love. Ares is just a chaotic force and a reflection of Eros' less desirable traits. He wants to be a lover, not a fighter; but damn if he isn't good at the latter.
By the end of season one Eros has come to a few important realizations about himself, understanding that he has the potential to act unfairly when it doesn't suit him and that by abandoning his love at the first trial of their relationship he was immature and brash. His actions not only hurt Psyche (and 300 other innocent mortals), but those closest to him. A self-awareness is developing within him and he is intent to go find Psyche to make things right. Too bad that she's been hidden right under his nose this entire time, but that's a new chapter.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Immortality: Gods can definitely be injured but cannot be killed. It is what it is on the can. Lore Olympus draws from him being the child of Ares and Aphrodite rather than a primordial god, but he's still probably rocking a few centuries already.
Sexual and Romantic Coercion: Anyone that isn't a virgin is vulnerable to Eros' ability to make a person of his choice sexually interested in another person of his choice. In the past, Zeus accused both Eros and Aphrodite of using their charms to initiate his many affairs, so he's unable to use it on other gods. Grandma (Hera) says so.
Any matters of the heart and loin seem to be in his favor. You have a crush? He knows. You love someone? He knows. You just got laid for the first time? The tall magenta man in the corner knows. If that isn't creepy enough if he touches another person he's able to vicariously experience the feelings felt during their previous sexual encounter.
Wing Tips: Eros is one of the Erotes in Greek mythos. He has beautiful wings that he can conceal on a whim. They often show themselves when using his powers but they do tend to stand out quite a bit. As for function, Eros is able to fly. Real majestic for a disaster teen.
The Spares:
If it wasn't obvious that I was using his wiki as a solid outline for listing his powers and abilities, here we are blatantly voicing it.
Eros is iconic for his bow and arrow, and many times a bolt in the chest is how he marks a person for his love vibes. Please shoot so-and-so so they fall in love with my cousin! – you know, that whole thing. He has great skill with the bow. Eros doesn't need to be close to be an accurate shot; if he doesn't hit you, he didn't intend to.
With all of these 'favors' he's asked to accomplish, he has to often conceal himself from prying eyes. Unless he wishes to be seen, he is invisible to mortals. It is a conscious decision, as is the ability to change his appearance ( when stealing Psyche from her own wedding, he makes himself look more snakelike to strike fear into the attendees and her awful betrothed ). In that same scene, it's shown that he can put mortals in a trance and levitate them. This power isn't shown often, so he might only use it when necessary.
INVENTORY:
-His quiver of arrows and trusted bow
-Literally the clothes on his back. No armor for him.
MOONBLESSING: Sanguis for the sweet boy.

First Impressions
Appearance
Eros is a tall, muscular man that appears in his early twenties at most. His features are what one would even call stereotypically masculine; broad-shouldered, strong jaw and nose, all perched on a neck that's drawn thick enough to intimidate 80s anime.Did I mention he is magenta? Maybe rose-colored to an extreme? Every part of him, from his curly hair to his well-manicured toes is some shade of pink, even his wings which probably shed everywhere. Oh, and he also has a beauty mark under his eye that he definitely inherited from his mother Aphrodite. He's cute, I guess.
Fashion
Eros is very in tune with his stylish side. He prefers to wear modern clothing and is definitely the idiot buying Champion sweatshirts for ridiculous amounts of money. He's a combination of athleasure meets beach bum, but we cherish a man that wears short shorts when his legs look like that.He can go from casual to fab, depending on his mood. No outfit is safe (unless it's underwear purchased in a three-pack or more). Let's not overlook the classic Greek god-core.
Demeanor & Attitude
Eros acts very...youthful. He's a bit of a gossip and playful, trying to keep things light-hearted most of the time. He's kind of like a warm hug from your best friend that always uses the good dryer sheets. That's not to say that he can't be serious; in fact if his friends or loved ones are in a pinch he is quite protective of them. Yes, he will shoot you with an arrow if you hurt his friend. Yes, he will ensure you won't find love ever again. No big deal.Voice
I have no specific voice in mind for Eros. He probably has a very bright and charming cadance.Magic & Telepathy
Eros is the God of Love and Sex, so he's a menace as far as urging characters to fall in love with other people. He can control sexual desires of people who are not virgins. He is very "intuitive" toward everyone who experiences amorous feelings though, from crushes to love. If he initiates physical contact with someone else he can vicariously experience the thoughts and emotions experienced during that person's last sexual encounter.Boy, why?
He can also put people in trance-like states, although I don't feel that is much of a habit for him. He tends to be pro-consent with most things for a god shooting arrows into people's chests.

☆ Physical Affection: Yes. The idea of Eros not being down for a hug kind of kills me inside. He's comfortable with characters touching him.☆ Physical Violence: He's an immortal being who is pretty jacked, but he is also very protective over those he loves. He's not the type to seek out a fight but he will if he feels there are no other alternatives. So, yes.
☆ Injury: Eros can be injured. He cannot die. If you have a scenario you'd like to play out and it makes sense for him to be roughed up, I'm down for it.
☆ Romance: Yes. He's in love with Psyche but she's currently MIA, or so he thinks.☆ Smut: This guy loves himself an orgy. The more the merrier.
☆ Offensive Topics: Lore Olympus deals with some triggering subjects. That being said, he is supportive of bad situations. There's nothing IC/OOC I'm completely unwilling to try.
